We don’t mind the Games Global “family” of partner studios borrowing from each other, which they do all the time, but pure copycat jobs just aren’t all that exciting. It works to reel in some newbies who’ve no idea about the original game, perhaps, and this is probably the best Aurum Signature Studios can hope for with Joker Fire Frenzy. Even the fruit slot theme doesn’t come across as very original, and it’s yet another reskin of Gameburger’s instant classic; 9 Masks of Fire.

We have seen plenty of that in recent years, and the gameplay revolves around the Epic Strike jackpots as they are called in Joker Fire Frenzy. This means that you can land instant payouts up to 2,000x your stake out of the blue, which admittedly adds a tension to the base game. In some releases in this sub-genre the bonus round multiplier also applies to the instant prizes, but this is not the case in Joker Fire Frenzy. You get the exact same game as the original, but with an even more generic fruit machine theme.

Review Summary

We still have Joker Fruit Frenzy fresh in mind, but that was a far simpler classic fruit slot release from Aurum Signature Studios. Joker Fire Frenzy might come with more features, but it’s hardly an original effort in any way, shape, or form. The fruit slot theme is generic, and the game itself is a straight up clone of 9 Masks Of Fire. It’s hardly the first copycat release we’ve seen, but at least many studios add something original to the mix or tweak the math model to make their version more attractive.

Aurum Signature Studios has done neither, which is disappointing, and we hardly think Joker Fire Frenzy comes with a shelf-life that can compare to the original. 9MOF comes with a more original theme as well, but hey, players who enjoy the instant scatter jackpot system now have yet another alternative to choose from. It seems pointless to us that developers keep churning out except replicas of the “unlikely” Gameburger success story, as adding a simple twist or two goes a long way.
