Golden Treasures Review

Atomic Slot Lab are still among the newest studios on the market, but they did make quite an impression with their Cosmic Cash slot. The Golden Treasures slot, which is what this very review is all about, is almost a reskin of that game, but perhaps things aren’t as bad, right? Well, let’s dig into all the important details now, shall we? To start with, we can tell you that the playing board of Golden Treasures consists of 5 reels, 4 rows and 50 paylines.

The theme of Golden Treasures builds on classic Asian tropes, which means that you can look forward to plenty of golden coins and animal statues. The production values are just about average, though, and we’re afraid that the visual designs don’t really go well together as a whole.

The math model of Golden Treasures has a medium volatility level and a reasonable 2,000x jackpot. You can play for many different stakes, too, though the min bet is fairly high at £0.50 per spin. The game’s max bet, on the other hand, is £200. Finally, the theoretical RTP of Golden Treasures is 95.52%, which is two notches below average. It’s very much in line with other Atomic Slot Lab slots, however.

Golden Treasures Slot Features

The paytable of Golden Treasures features a grand total of 11 pay symbols, which are split into 6 low pays and 5 high pays. For low pays, you can expect just the classic card ranks from Nines to Aces, and they all have the same payout values. For a set of 5, you’ll get a payout worth 1x your bet. For high pays, on the other hand, there are thematic symbols with mice, pigs, frogs, lions and dragons. Dragon symbols are the game’s top pays, and they are worth 5x your bet for a set of 5.

In addition to pay symbols, there are also Lotus Wilds, Temple Scatters and Trinket symbols. Lotus Wilds can naturally substitute for other pay symbols in winning combos, and they can also bring you wins on their own, to up to 10x for a five-of-a-kind combination.

Golden Treasures Free Spins

Golden Treasures Slot – Free Spins Feature

Land 3, 4, or 5 Temple Scatters in view to launch the Free Spins feature with 10, 20, or 50 free spins, respectively. You can get additional free spins via the same formula, too, and landing 6+ matching symbols on the middle three reels will transform them all into Lotus Wilds.

If you manage to get 6 or more Trinket symbols in view, you’ll trigger the Respin feature, which draws inspiration from the Hold and Win formula, though there are some substantial differences that make this take rather enjoyable. The game will move to a different playing field with several lines, and your goal is to fill them with Trinket symbols and reach the various rewards that are displayed on the right side of the playing field, and which include free spins, multipliers, and even jackpots.

As you’d expect, you’ll get 3 respins to get those extra Trinket symbols, and each new Trinket symbol that lands will automatically pull that counter back to the starting mark. It’s a neat concept, and we certainly wouldn’t mind seeing it more often.

You can also use the Buy Bonus option and get to the Respin feature that way. Doing so will cost you 80x your bet.

Review Summary

Honestly, it’s hard not to have some seriously mixed feelings about the Golden Treasures slot. On one hand, we do like its take on the Hold and Win formula, as it really is more enjoyable than what most other slots offer in that regard. On the other hand, there are also quite a few minuses, including the game’s lackluster presentation, its subpar RTP, and the fact that it borrows so heavily from one of the previous Atomic Slot Lab slots. On balance, those minuses – unfortunately – outweigh the pluses.

Pros

  • Free spins with symbol transformations
  • Enjoyable and complex Respin feature

Cons

  • Lackluster presentation
  • Subpar RTP
  • Worse than one of the studio’s previous slots
