Joker Mega Moolah Review

Microgaming keeps churning out ever-new Mega Moolah versions via their many independent partners, and Joker Mega Moolah is very similar to Aurum Signature Studios first effort, Jungle Mega Moolah. The jungle/safari theme has been replaced by a classic fruit skin, not unlike what you find in JFTW’s more innovative Juicy Joker Mega Moolah.

It would have been better if they upped the RTP to the all-time-high of 93.45 % in the previous release, as everything else is pretty much the same. We don’t mind a solid remake or reskin once in a while, but what’s happening now seems too hectic and uncoordinated. Simply flooding the market with all sorts of copycats is not really something we applaud, and we hope to see more innovation and thought behind future installments.

Joker Mega Moolah Features

The star wild doubles all winnings it’s involved with, and the wild also steps in for all regular pay symbols to help you form winning symbols. This is one of few twists since Aurum Signature Studios previous installment, where the wild was the highest value symbol.

You trigger the Bonus Round when you land 3, 4 or 5 joker scatters anywhere in sight, and every free spin win is boosted by a 3x multiplier. Keep in mind that the progressive jackpots game cannot be triggered from within the bonus round.

Per usual, you trigger the Jackpot Game at random times during base game play, and higher bet levels means slightly higher chances of triggering the Jackpot Wheel feature. The wheel will spin, and you’re guaranteed to win 1 of the 4 progressive jackpots. These are the Mini (seeds at €10), Minor (seeds at €100) and Major (seeds at €10,000) jackpots, as well as the life-changing Mega Jackpot:

  • Mega Jackpot starts/seeds at: €1M
  • Average Mega Jackpot: around €5.1M
  • Average Mega Jackpot time: around 8 weeks
  • Record Mega Jackpot payout: €18,915,721

The 200 Spins Joker Mega Moolah Experience

We had a smaller payout here and there during the base game grind, but nothing memorable happened. You can therefore safely skip to 2:19 into the 4-minute highlights video, where we trigger the bonus round with 3 joker scatters. Hit the play button to see how we fared, and we can reveal up front that we didn’t manage to trigger the jackpot game this time.

Review Summary

Aurum Signature Studios has pretty much made a fruit slot reskin of their previous Jungle Mega Moolah, which was a visually modernized version of the world famous original. We hardly see the point, as another Microgaming partner, JFTW, has already released Juicy Joker Mega Moolah, which at least has a few original features to offer and is an overall better game than this.

The only reason to prefer Joker Mega Moolah over all other installments, is the superior 93.45 % RTP. While this is still well below certain NetEnt progressives in the same league, it’s way better than the original Mega Moolah, and also a bit better than the above-mentioned indie studio follow-ups. Whether or not this is enough to convince most jackpot hunters to move to greener pastures remains to be seen.

Pros

  • All wild wins are doubled
  • Bonus round w/ 3x multiplier
  • 4 progressive jackpots
  • Mega jackpot seeds at €1M
  • Highest Mega Moolah RTP to date

Cons

  • Offers nothing new except higher RTP

If you appreciate Joker Mega Moolah you should also try:

Jungle Mega Moolah – is Aurum Signature’s first revamp of the original Microgaming classic. It’s very similar to the game at hand, albeit with a jungle theme and the original 88.12 % RTP. The wild pays 600x for 5 on a payline here, and the bonus round comes with a 3x multiplier for wins up to 1,800x your stake.

Juicy Joker Mega Moolah – is Just For The Win’s fruit version of the original jackpot classic, and it comes with an indefinite respins round. Framed positions turn wild on the final respin, and there is also a pretty similar free spins round. The truly big wins will come from the progressives, as usual, and the RTP is 92.03 %.

Absolootly Mad: Mega Moolah – is a far more entertaining and feature rich version from Triple Edge Studios, and it comes with a rolling reels multiplier trail both in the base game and during the bonus round. You can benefit from up to 15x multipliers in the free spins round, and you can win up to 2,343x your stake outside of the jackpots.
